Jeremiah Brower Bio

I’m currently a Research Technician with Scripps, which is basically a Marine Technician with a bit more involvement with cruise planning and logistics. I’ve been working at Scripps for just over a year and a half. Before I worked at Scripps I worked as a Marine Technician at the Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences (BIOS). I’ve also worked 2 years as a deckhand aboard a tallship based out of Long Beach California and I have a Masters Degree in Marine Science through California State University of Monterey Bay. Scripps will occasionally send out their technicians to non-UNOLS vessels with contracts through ODF (Oceanographic Data Facilities) and NOAA, which is how I ended up on the Palmer.

Current role: I’m working as a technician through the ODF team to run salinity analysis on water samples collected from CTD casts. I’m also onboard the Palmer as a supporting technician for the CTD. I will assist in the repair or replacement of CTD sensors and the maintenance of quality data during CTD operations. This is my first cruise aboard the Palmer and my first expedition to Antarctic waters.
