Rachel Lekanoff Bio

I’m a graduate student at University of Alaska Fairbanks. I have sailed in the Arctic Ocean, the Gulf of Alaska, and the tropical Pacific with our lab’s underwater camera to study plankton and other particles.  My research focuses on particle-associated microbes of the Bering and Chukchi seas and microbial effects on the carbon cycle. When I’m not working on my thesis or sailing the high seas, I like cross-country skiing, reading, and video games.
