Setting up by Patrick

Loading and setting up equipment began in Hobart as containers filled with scientific gear were hauled aboard, put back together in the various lab spaces, secured and tested.  And then secured some more as we sailed into 20 foot seas and high winds on our 8 day transit to our first station.
Our days are currently filled with testing our systems, collecting underway samples, and fighting boredom that will be absent once we start our station line and begin working our normal 12 hour shifts, filled with sampling and running analysis.

Until then our CTD students get trained on operating the CTD console, equipment is run to ensure it is in working order as we count the days to our first station aboard the USAP icebreaker Nathaniel B. Palmer.
